Today, Dr. Balaguhan operated the most complex craniofacial procedure  *Craniosynostosis* – *(Trigonocephaly*) A metopic suture synostosis along with neurosurgeons in a corporate hospital for a 9 month old baby.The baby underwent Frontal Bandeau advancement and Calvarial reshaping for 8 hrs to complete the complex procedure,and baby doing well in post-operative phase.
As a chief, I witnessed firsthand the impact of his exceptional unwavering commitment to the patients. We are one of a kind Maxillofacial department, Head and Neck surgical Oncology and Craniofacial surgery working together to bring out the best extremes in Max-Fax.

Matrix 2024: Endodontic Practical and Panel Discussion for Postgraduate Students

We are excited to announce that **Matrix 2024**, our exclusive endodontic practical and panel discussion for exam-going postgraduate students, is currently underway. Here’s a recap of the exciting activities from Day 1 and a preview of what’s to come.

Reckoning the Examinophobia

The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology successfully completed Day 1 of the “Reckoning the Examinophobia” post-graduate mock test program. With an esteemed panel of experts and 35 delegates from various colleges, the event provided a comprehensive platform to address exam anxiety and enhance exam-taking skills.
 
Participants engaged in realistic mock tests, received personalized feedback, and interacted with experts, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. The enthusiasm and engagement of all attendees were commendable.

"World No Tobacco Day-2024"

On account of “World No Tobacco Day-2024” We the department of Public Health Dentistry, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, organised a rally in Uthiramerur. In this event all the final year dental students, interns and Post graduates distributed Pamplets and a skit with face painting explaining ill effects of tobacco to the public. Students who rallied also got sensitized about their role in tobacco control in India. Every witness to the event found the program to be very much effective and appreciated it. We thank Inspector of police, sub- inspector,Uthiramerur and our beloved Dean Dr.A.Madanmohan, Principal Dr.B.Balaguhan, Dr.Sathishkumar (Hod, Department of oral pathology) for the support and being part of this successful event.

The inaugural ceremony of the 16th batch of undergraduates (year 2023 -24) induction program commenced with the lighting of a lamp by a group of dignitaries of the Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences was held on 21st September 2023 at 9.30 am in the Saroja Regupathy main auditorium.

"World Hypertension Day-2024"

On account of “World Hypertension Day-2024” We the department of Public Health Dentistry, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, organised a rally in Uthiramerur. In this event all the final year dental students, interns and Post graduates distributed Pamplets regarding the prevention and management of Hypertension to the public. The rally was initiated by Inspector of police, sub-inspector,Uthiramerur and a pledge was taken by dental students to create awareness regarding prevention of Hypertension among the public. we thank our beloved Dean Dr.A.Madanmohan, Principal Dr.B.Balaguhan, for the support and being part of this successful event.

Karpaga vinayaga Institute of dental sciences conducted Career guidance program on jan 6th, 2024 at 11-12a.m. in the presence of faculties and interns. Speaker of the day was Dr. Simrannat Singh, founder and director of DENTACME. He enlightened the students about various career opportunities.

WEBINAR

The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology organized a webinar on 01.09.2023 (Friday) between 10.00 AM to 11.00 AM, through the zoom call meeting. The lecture in this webinar was given by Dr. M. Sudha, Prof.,M.D.S.,MFDS RCPS(Glassglow).,PhD.

Dr. T. Saravanan, Vice principal & Professor, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology chaired the session and welcome address. Prof. Dr. M. Sudha has delivered a lecture on the topic “ART OF WRITING MANUSCRIPT”. She explained how to write a manuscript for original research paper, systematic review, meta-analysis and case reports. We received good feedback from the audience. At the end of the webinar Dr. T. Saravanan, Vice principal & Professor, delivered the vote of thanks. He also thanked the participants for their active support for making the webinar to be successful.

“CBCT Program for General Practitioners”, which took place on April 24, 2024.

The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, conducted a CDE program “CBCT Program for General Practitioners”, which took place on April 24, 2024. The program was designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology and its applications in dentistry. The event featured a series of expert-led lectures by all staff, oral medicine and radiology. These lectures covered a wide range of topics, including the principles of CBCT imaging, the interpretation of CBCT images, and the role of CBCT in treatment planning for various dental conditions. In addition to the lectures, the program included hands-on workshops where participants had the opportunity to practice using CBCT machines under the guidance of experienced instructors. This practical experience was invaluable for participants to gain confidence in using CBCT technology in their own practice. The program was attended by 11 participants, all of whom actively engaged in the lectures and workshops. At the end of the program, certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees to recognize their commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills in CBCT imaging.

Dr. C. Nirupama, Professor, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, had published two textbooks namely, ALIGNER ORTHODONTICS and MODERNIZATION IN ORTHODONTICS and released in the presence of her esteemed teacher Dr. Ashwin George, President IBO and other IOS Office bearers at Anil Neerukonda Institute of Dental Sciences, Visakhapatnam and was felicitated for the same.

DEPARTMENT OF ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPEDICS ASSESSMENT EXAMINATION - JAN 2024

An assessment examination on leveling and aligning in edgewise mechanics was conducted to the final year postgraduates in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. The external examiners were DR. SOFITHA, Professor from Government Dental College, Chennai and DR. XAVIER DHAYANANTH, Associate Professor from Sathyabama University Dental College, Chennai. On 03.01.2024 from 09:00AM to 02:00PM, the examination was conducted in two sessions. In the morning session, chairside assessment of patient cases regarding leveling and aligning, and fabrication of necessary intrusion arches were performed. In the afternoon session, an oral examination pertaining to leveling and aligning stage was performed.

Department of Prosthodontics celebrates the day every year on 22nd January 2023. This year the department had  conducted various programmes. A cycle rally was organised to enlighten the public about the importance of replacement of missing teeth.
